Want to monetize your blog with Google Adsense?
This article is just what you need.
First things first though…
Why Google Adsense?
- It’s one of the best ways to monetize a blog as a beginner, if not the best one.;
- It’s a quick way to start monetizing your blog right away; (a lot of bloggers use ads even after the implement some other monetization methods.);
- Just place the code and forget about the rest, Google will take care of your income stream;
Why Not?
Don’t get me wrong. I do think that ads are a great way to monetize your blog.
However, I also think they have a lot of disadvantages, like:
- Your visitors get distracted and bounce out of your site;
- Your income per visitor is pretty low (way lower than if you try other monetization methods used by pro bloggers, check out the article);
- Visitors don’t really like seeing ads on your site. They prefer something unique that you can offer;
In other words, Ads are better for beginners that are not really aware of all of the possibilities.

However,
It’s been this way for more than a decade already – every blogger wants to know how to apply and get approval from Google Adsense.
But it’s not always easy.
Google keeps rejecting the applications even though everything seems just fine.
A lot of people try it all, yet fail to get approved for various reasons even though they do everything step by step.
Let me tell you this – It’s not that those guides and tips are not correct, it’s the matter of the way those tips are delivered.
A lot of those guides list all of the”rules” that might or might not be important.
In fact, there’s not that much needed in order to get approved and people tend to over-complicate that process.
Truth is, Nobody knows “the rules”. Google doesn’t really publish them that way.
It’s all about common sense and understanding that it’s all about being a good partner for Google or anyone else.
Throughout my career, I helped a lot of people to get approved for Adsense. And it worked every time.
The great thing is if you listen closely – it will work for you as well!
Now, Let’s start with the basics.
In order to apply for Google Adsense, you need to have a blog. (read our step by step guide to start one).
Don’t get me wrong bloggers, it’s a tip for beginners – Some people think that you can get approved first and then launch an actual blog. Sadly, that’s not the case for Google Adsense. So, you have to launch a blog first.
OK, now let’s assume that you already have a blog. Now let’s learn how to apply and get approval from Google Adsense.
As I’ve already mentioned, not much has to be done in order to meet Googles’ standards. No need to overcomplicate stuff…
…There’s a simple trick if you are searching for one – Be real!
Google wants to approve potential partners with some valuable content and not the blogs/websites which are built just to make money from ads.
Once you launch a blog that is (visibly) meant to deliver some value to the visitor, you will get approved.
That’s a fact.
So how to make sure that your blog looks like that?
That brings us to our list of important tips for those who want to learn how to apply and get the approval for Google Adsense.
Let’s just write into it!
How To Apply And Get The Approval For Google Adsense
The list is pretty simple but truly effective. It will make your site more professional and Adsense friendly at the same time.
This means that you should definitely do all those things, even if you are not trying to apply for Adsense.
It works for everyone, which means that it will work for you as well.
Even though these tips will definitely work for you, it might be even easier for some people to get approved with just 70% of these tips. The main point is to get the picture, which is to be real. And your goal is to make that fact visible!
But once again – these tips are simple enough anyway, so there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t follow them.
- Buy a custom name (.com, .net. , .org, .co etc.)
- Have A Plain And Mobile Friendly Blog Design
- Disclaimer, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy
- About Us, Contact Page
- Write At Least 3 Articles
- S.E.O.
- Google Search Console – One case worked only once applied
- Apply For Google Adsense
Now let’s talk about each one separately:
Buy a custom name (.com, .net. , .org, .co etc.)
Your goal is to make your site professional and long-term deal, right?
Would you believe that any site like www.mysite.freewebsitenames.com is there for real deal and can easily become your long-term partner?
Well even if you don’t think it’s a big deal, Google won’t feel the same way.
There’s absolutely no need to think twice about this one – You need a custom domain name.
Have A Plain And Mobile Friendly Blog Design
Nobody likes messy websites that are hard to navigate and look like the desktop of a basic teenager.
And it’s not only about the visible-side. It might be the code as well. A lot of free themes available on the market have a messed up code which might ruin your chances to get approved.
You might want to fix that issue before applying as well.
In case you want to take a safe road, it’s always a great idea to invest in a pro theme which is guaranteed to be problem-free.
My advice would be to try Avada theme. It is the most popular one out there, is cheap, mobile-friendly and super ads-friendly at the same time.
You can also try other themes by ThemeForest.All of those themes are great for beginners with automated admin panels and many more.
Other than a theme, it is important to keep your blog clean! Don’t trash it with random banners and keep your sidebar (In case you have any) clean as well.
Cookie Notice, Disclaimer, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy
There’s a legal side to blogging which Google is really serious about.
But no worries, all you need it a couple of pages and a plugin.
Cookie Law– This is a relatively new rule from GDPR, You have to make sure that your visitors understand that your blog might be (and it definitely is, even if you are not aware of it) using cookies. Just install the plugin called – Cookie Notice and it’s all set.
Disclaimer – Your blog has to have a page formally informing visitors that it is not taking any responsibility for some things. Just try to Google some examples like this one and customize them to meet your blog’s format.
Terms Of Use – Although this can be a part of your disclaimer page, you might want to launch yet another page explaining how your blog can and should be used.
Privacy Policy – one more page which has to be a part of your blog. Make sure to create it before applying for Adsense.
About Us, Contact Page
Google wants to know a lot of things about its partners. And it wants your visitors to know about you as well.
Honestly, It’s called a blog – why wouldn’t you tell about the author?
And the contact page?
You should be easily contactable in any case. At least, Google definitely expects you to be so.
Write At Least 3 Articles
This is by far the most important part of getting approved for Google Adsense.
This is where your content starts delivering some value.
A lot of articles around the web advise writing at least 15, 20, 30 articles.
But that’s such wrong advice!
It definitely about quantity, it’s all about the quality!
You might even get approved with one article as long as it represents the big picture your blog is (and will definitely be) all about.
Let me tell you the most important details about your article:
It is unique – Which means that you wrote it and it is not a copy-paste. You might still sping the content (meaning that you are paraphrasing and combining some content you read around the web), just keep your words unique (and please do it as it is, don’t try to trick Google).
It is valuable – Not every visitor is going to love your article (or anybody’s article ever). But at least it represents the value that the internet received once you pushed the publish button.
Just the right size – It should not be less than 300 words and not a poem as well. Try to aim for unique and valuable 1000 words, that would be perfect.
It’s Not messy – Nobody likes to see a paragraph which is basically the whole article. Try to write 1 or 2 (at most) sentences per paragraph.
Easy to read – Don’t go linguistic on your readers. Try to keep it simple.
Grammar – Check your spelling with a free tool like Grammarly. Your content should be understandable and grammatically correct!
Lists – Google loves lists! Write articles about a certain topic and try to make a list.
In case your content is all about these steps and it truly represents a great deal it should be good to go!
S.E.O.
We are talking about Google here.
So, Of course, it wants your content to be S.E.O. friendly to make it easily crawlable for Google bots.
Don’t worry – Just install the Yoast SEO plugin (If you haven’t yet, it is free) and let it help you with your articles!
And since we are talking about being friendly with Google, it brings us to the next one on our list of “how to apply and get the approval from Google Adsense”…
Google Search Console – One case worked only once applied
Did I already say that nobody knows what are the rules on how to apply and get approval from Google Adsense, FOR A FACT?
Well, that’s true. All we can do is try to meet the common sense.
As I’ve already mentioned, I helped a lot of people to learn how to apply and get the approval from Google Adsense. And one thing I noticed is that everyone got approved once they followed all of the mentioned steps + Applied for google search console.
Now, let’s take a second to understand why can that be happening.
Google Search console is a free tool for webmasters by Google and is all about Google bots. It helps them to crawl your site and understand what it’s all about.
The logic here is simple – Console bots are specialized to identify your content and grade it.
By assisting google you are both:
- Making Google’s job easier.
- Showing you are serious about your S.E.O. efforts.
A lot of people don’t know about Google Search Console at all and lose a lot of free traffic.
There are a lot of reasons why you should try it. Even if you stop using Adsense for some reason this tool will definitely help you in a long-run anyway.
