Affiliate marketing for bloggers is one of the best things about the modern world, isn’t it?
It is a great opportunity to earn money just by promoting products or services of other people with just an average “customized” link.
Wait, that doesn’t really sound like something a beginner can understand.
Don’t worry.
We will cover that topic step by step to make sure that anybody can understand the basics of affiliate marketing for bloggers.
I will answer all of the questions you might have about affiliate marketing for bloggers and beyond.
I hope, I won’t miss anything…
Hopefully, it will educate and motivate at the same time!
Let’s start with an obvious one:
What is the affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is the system by which an online retailer also known as a vendor pays the commission to an external website.blog for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.
In other words, vendors pay you in case you help them to achieve their goals.
In most cases, this goal is to sell a product or service.
- You advise their product.
- They receive traffic with a cookie indicating that they have to pay you in case a visitor converts.
- Once a sale is made – you get commissions.
It’s just that simple.
And the best part is – Everybody is happy.
How does affiliate marketing for bloggers really work?
Well, it’s actually pretty simple. Any person who wants to promote a product takes a link with some extra code and “spreads it out”.
Once a person who used that exact link makes a purchase, you get commissions for it.
In the case of bloggers – affiliate links lay somewhere in the content.
It might be:
- In menu
- In article
- Banners
For example – In case you run a blog about fashion, you can place an affiliate link for shoes somewhere in your content and get a piece of the profit. It might be 10% or it might be 90%.
It all depends on the terms which the owner of those shoes is offering you.
Sounds great, right?
You don’t even need to do a thing other than having an affiliate link and spreading it. You will get some notifications once the order is complete which will notify you that you just got paid!
Even though there are a lot of ways to monetize a blog, affiliate marketing for bloggers is probably the most popular one.
For a reason!
For bloggers, affiliate marketing is a huge time saver cause it is simple and they can start making money from day 1!.
How much can you earn with affiliate marketing?
Even though the answer to this question is “unlimited amount of money” and it’s 100% true, I’m pretty sure that’s not what you (or any beginner) want to hear.
At least not now!
The truth is that your earnings depend on a few factors:
- Amount of people clicking on your link.
- The popularity of the affiliate product/service/ amount of sales.
- Price.
- % of commissions vendor (the original seller of affiliate deal) is offering.
Let’s address those factors.
Amount of people clicking on your link:
No matter how hard you try only a certain percentage of visitors to your blog will click on the affiliate link.
Which means that you need a lot of traffic.
More traffic equals more clicks. That’s pretty obvious, right?
More clicks should definitely equal more sales then…
Yeah, kinda. Not so fast though…
Ok, let’s say you the link was clicked 1000 times.
what about the popularity?
The popularity of the affiliate product/service/ amount of sales
In some cases, products are popular and those 1000 visitors, might end up placing 500+ orders or more.
That’s a great thing. Super great to be honest.
In other cases, products are not that popular and that amount might be less, like really low. Maybe 5 or something like that.
This means that ideally, you want to promote products that are popular and easy to sell.
Price
Of course, your income depends on the price of the product.
You might be promoting a car as well as a smartphone case.
Prices vary – So does your income.
But that’s not all – you might get the same income from selling shoes and a book as well.
How is that possible if one of them costs 800$ and another one something like 20$?
That brings us to the next factor:
% of commissions vendor is offering
Not all of the terms offered by vendors (the original seller of affiliate deal) are equal.
Some vendors offer higher commissions while others might offer less.
You don’t think that Gucci will offer you 80% of their shoes, do you?
But an author of some new book just might do that!
You get the point!
You should always remember that all of these factors have some kind of influence on each other as well.
Once you put all of these pieces in place, you will get the idea of potential earnings!
Where can you find affiliate deals?
Let’s start with the main thing – Affiliate deals are everywhere!
Everybody wants to make some extra sales and unless they are total newbies in making a business, they won’t mind to thank you with some commissions.
Nearly every company around the world runs some kind of affiliate marketing deals.
All of that means – You have a huge choice!
With that being said – Where can you find them anyway?
Affiliate marketplaces/networks
There are a lot of others, but these are the best ones for beginners.
Companies’ websites – Want to sell products of a specific company? Go to their website, scroll down and find the word “affiliate …”. Most of the times it’s “Affiliate program”. Go to the page and get the info about their terms.
Any affiliate marketing for bloggers starts from one of these!
Will it really work?
Even though I understand this question, I still can’t believe that anyone could ask it.
But people do ask about it, so I need to answer it.
Let me tell you just this – It does work and I’m the living proof of that.
I do a lot of affiliate marketing on my various blogs and niches.
Ok, you might think that I’m a long-time pro and it is easier for me with my experience.
Well – 100% of my students make profits with affiliate marketing as well. Not 99%, but 100%!
How is that possible?
Simply because it is super simple and probably one of the easiest ways any blogger can use to earn money online.
That’s probably the best case to say the sentence – If we can do it, you can do it as well!
How can I start? (The Process)
Since I answered all of the basic and most common questions, it’s time to make the next step…
Which is to use this knowledge!
